CSMVS is the largest Museum of Mumbai.
1905 November the Prince of Wales,
future King George V and future Emperor of India
laid the foundation stone of the future Museum
which has named in his honor.
(George V was the father of the Duke of Winsor and of King George VI
and the grandfather of Queen Elisabeth II)
1920 Opening of the Museum.
1998 the Museum was renamed Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
after the founder of the Maratha Empire.
Collection
about 50.000 pieces of art, archaeology and natural history.
